My license arrived in email this morning after doing the tests for the standard license on 22 July 2022. So got straight onto the linked UHF repeaters here in South Australia and put out a listening call. Made contact with VK5GA as my first contact as a Ham Radio operator.
A thank you to a few people. To Ron VK2DQ for his excellent Standard license course through res.net.au. It got me a score of 90% which is what I was getting in his practice tests.
Thanks to Peter VK5PX at the North East Radio Club (NERC) for doing the tests and helping with getting the license. Looking forward to doing the advanced in the next month or so.
And a really big thank you to my great friend Dave VK5ADC for the inspiration to get this license and join a community of great people.
Joined the F Troop NET this evening to participate in my first group discussion on the linked UHF repeaters but my radio decided to drop out with a message saying transmit timeout 🙁
